I teach hatha yoga with a meditative focus. Every class begins in breath awareness, moves through gentle, warming movements and building to your special, hand-picked pinnacle pose with a variety of standing and other poses incorporating heart-opening, hip opening and twists. We follow the pinnacle with counter and responsive poses, inversions, final spinal twists and a sweet savasana. 

 

I've practiced yoga in a variety of settings and styles, and come to focus on the most basic teachings and poses because the entire teaching is accessible and unfolds from there. What is the basic teaching? Become clear enough to see what is in front of you, do what is in front of you: that is what is necessary. Remember it's not personal, and let the consequences go. Do the do, remember it's not you.

 

You remember who you are when you see yourself reflected in who and what you find difficult - and have deep compassion for yourself and what's difficult. Do one thing that scares the crap out of you every, single day. Feel the fear, breathe, and lean in, just a little bit. Move only as fast as you breathe.
